RELEASING

RELEASING an immature male bald eagle at Split Rock, Pleasant Point, on May 11 is Rep. David Slagger of the Houlton Band of Maliseets as Passamaquoddy Chief Clayton Cleaves looks on. The three-year-old raptor, named Chipolkon Nitap in Passamaquoddy (My Friend, Eagle), was found two months ago at the Cutler Naval Base after it had been injured in a fight with another bird. The eagle was rehabilitated by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Mark McCullough at Avian Haven in Freedom, Maine. (Don Dunbar photo))
