Valentine couples’ love lasts for a lifetime

Every February 14 people have a reminder of how important it is to have someone to love or somebody to love you. Some married couples in the Quoddy area have celebrated a great many Valentine Days together and feel very fortunate to have found the right person with whom to share their lives.

His mother's name helped save the life of a Syrian refugee who is now living with his wife and seven of their children in St. Stephen, as they try to rebuild their lives in the shelter of a new country.

Missing dog found after extensive search

A 22-day search in the Cooper area for a dog named Lulu had a happy ending last month. The one-year-old black German shepherd was finally reunited with her very happy owner, Jeremy Sanders, on January 18, after she fled from the scene of a car accident back on December 27.

Bayside Chocolates heads to Hollywood

The envelope, please. On Oscar night, Sunday, February 28, Lubec's Bayside Chocolates will be in the room. Peppermint patties, prepared by nominee Cheryl Till, will be in the celebrity gift bag, and Till will be nominated for "Best Chocolatier" honors.

Lubec Community Food Pantry now open

About 25 volunteers braved chilly weather on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to help prepare to inaugurate the new Lubec Community Food Pantry. The first distribution was scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, at the Lubec Community Outreach Center (LCOC) facility located in the former high school wing.

Neighbors and strangers have turned out in force to help a family whose uninsured home and barn on Old County Road in Pembroke was destroyed by fire on Sunday, January 3.
