Court approves DECH’s plan to acquire Calais hospital
On March 24 a bankruptcy court approved the plan for Calais Regional Hospital (CRH) to be purchased by Down East Community Hospital (DECH) of Machias, with Mark Stickney of Spinglass Management Group appointed as the plan officer. CRH will become the Calais Community Hospital (CCH) under the plan.

Lubec board awards bid for Quoddy Dolphin
The Lubec Select Board awarded the sale of the sprawling but decaying Quoddy Dolphin building, which has been seized for back taxes, to Derek Lyons for $35,000, during a special meeting on March 24.

Down East Community Hospital (DECH) in Machias and Calais Regional Hospital (CRH) shared publicly on February 19 that DECH may purchase the Calais based hospital through Chapter 11 bankruptcy court.

County vaccine roll-out facing high demand with limited supply
Demand is higher than supply with Washington County and the state's COVID 19 vaccine roll out. At his weekly briefing held on February 9, Maine Center for Disease Control (CDC) Director Dr. Nirav Shah said, "The supply of vaccine remains incredibly constrained at this time."

The Eastport City Council voted to terminate the contract of City Manager Thomas Hoskins and end his employment with the city during a special city council meeting on January 27.
