Washington County government's provisional treasurer and deputy treasurer both submitted their resignations on September 28, effective on October 9, in part because of the work environment at the county offices.

The Passamaquoddy chief at Sipayik, Pos Bassett, narrowly retained his seat in a close vote in the tribal general election held on September 8. Bassett received 202 votes to challenger Gail Dana's 184, according to unofficial results.

The Washington County commissioners voted unanimously to reinstate Renee Gray as the county manager at a meeting on August 26. Gray had been fired in a 2-1 vote by the commissioners on July 2 and had then filed suit against two of the commissioners and the county, alleging she was fired illegally.
