Captain America visits Edmunds boy

Not every five year old can claim that they've beaten cancer and Captain America at arm wrestling, but Jace Griffin can. The young resident of Edmunds and his family were recently treated to a special visit from actor Chris Evans while staying at Christopher's Haven in Boston, Mass.
Evans, who has played Captain America in several Marvel films and is one of the world's best paid actors as a result, is an avid supporter of and fundraiser for Christopher's Haven and makes visits with its guests when he is able to. The visit on October 28 was prompted by a celebration commemorating the 20th anniversary of Christopher's Haven, which provides housing for children who are receiving cancer treatment and their families.
Jace completed his last round of proton beam radiation treatments at Massachusetts General Hospital on October 21, signifying a major milestone in a 10 month struggle with brain cancer. Capping off the completion of the treatments with a visit from Captain America made the experience even more special.
"[Chris] spent time with each of the kids," says Sara Griffin, Jace's mother. "He was so kind and listened to all of Jace's stories. He even arm wrestled and had a thumb war with him. Jace was pretty excited that he was able to beat Captain America!"
Jace has been a Marvel enthusiast from a young age, wearing a variant of the Spiderman outfit each year at Halloween -- including this year, which he made it home for. "He is a huge fan of Spiderman, but Captain America is now a close second," Griffin says.
Jace and his mother were joined by Jace's siblings Kyle and Brett and father Brent in Boston for the final treatment and the party. Jace's sister Natcha is in college and was unable to be at the event in person, "but Jace made sure to FaceTime with her to introduce her to Captain America," Griffin says.
