Lubec volunteers try to rescue shark
Sometime during the night of September 2, a young male basking shark apparently took a wrong turn and ended up stranded on the sand bar alongside the Lubec Channel on a rapidly falling tide.

Lacking manpower, fire department in Cooper to disband
The Cooper Volunteer Fire Department is not able to legally function, stated Fire Chief Trevor Flood at the August 15 Cooper Select Board meeting. He explained that this decision came during a recent meeting of the fire department personnel and its board of directors.
