Voters to decide on bond issues with local project funds
Maine voters will be asked to vote on June 12 to approve a $113 million transportation bond and a bond for drinking water programs and wastewater facility projects.

Navy ship to ring in 4th of July
The U.S.S. McFaul DD6 74, a guided missile destroyer, will be docking in Eastport during the Fourth of July festivities this year. The Arleigh Burke Class vessel is home to 23 officers, 24 chief petty officers and 291 enlisted personnel.

Old sardine carrier to share bay stories
The public is invited to gather at the Eastport Fish Pier on Sunday, June 10, at 3 p.m. when a restored 1942 sardine carrier will set sail on a journey to carry the story of maritime Maine and New Brunswick up the Hudson River, into the Great Lakes and then along the Atlantic seaboard.

School regionalization looms as legislature approves plan
A controversial plan to implement sweeping changes in school administrative units has been adopted by the legislature as part of the state budget. The Maine House of Representatives voted 112 to 29 in favor of the budget, and the Senate enacted the budget by a vote of 28-7 on June 6.
