The gift‑giving season is here and so is the cold weather. With that in mind, three organizations came together to help some homeowners save a little money on heating costs while giving back to Mother Earth. In a project announced earlier in the year by 350 Downeast in collaboration

A number of migrant workers allege that they were sexually harassed by a labor contractor working for Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, which is noted for its connection to the Wreaths Across America effort, and that those who confronted the contractor were subsequently fired.

The closure of all of the Pennamaquan River to scallop dragging because of the mooring field off the Pembroke boat landing on Hersey Neck has upset some scallop fishermen who would like to drag in that area.

No one dislikes conserved lands, or at least it's a rare bird who outright rejects the concept. Wildlife thrives, ecosystems are preserved, hiking trails are developed and, on the coast, valuable access to the shore and islands is maintained for the public and fishermen.

About 10 interested people gathered at the St. Croix Island International Historic Site's visitor center for an open house on the afternoon of November 19 to share comments about the fate of the site's historic McGlashan-Nickerson House.

The discussion was respectful but firm from Passamaquoddy tribal members at the November 20 meeting to consider the fate of St. Ann's Catholic Church at Sipayik -- both the church building itself and the 15 stained glass windows in the church and four in the connected convent.
