The Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) is questioning why both the Canadian government and the New Brunswick provincial government are not being more transparent about the presence of deadly diseases and the escape of farmed Atlantic salmon within the aquaculture industry.

Anyone who has had a beloved pet go astray knows the despairing fear that their furry family member is gone forever, and for too many this is the outcome. But a Grand Manan cat has beaten the odds on a nine-day mainland excursion, which has made him a bit of a local celebrity.

Not even a broken furnace could dampen the warm spirits on a cold March night at the Grand Manan Curling Club, where about 60 residents gathered for what was billed as "an evening of thankfulness," hosted by Wayne Green.

Another Grand Manan tragedy has turned into an opportunity for people to show their community Christmas spirit. On Tuesday, December 16, the Grand Harbour house belonging to Heather Green was destroyed in a fire around mid-morning.
