A LONG JOURNEY TO SAFETY

A LONG JOURNEY TO SAFETY
A LONG JOURNEY TO SAFETY ended on Grand Manan for one Ukrainian family, with the arrival of Sacha and Lena Marinin with 3 1/2-year-old Kostya on Tuesday evening, June 7. The family from Mariupol was met by a crowd of well-wishers with signs, flags and balloons. A community group has been working to bring them to Canada since late March. Atlantic Charters provided the flight from Moncton, where they landed after travelling from Warsaw, Poland. The family came to say hello to the welcoming group before heading off for some much-needed rest and a two-week quarantine. Sacha said they look forward to living on the island: 'Now we have a home.'
