AT THE BOLD COAST SEA

AT THE BOLD COAST SEA
AT THE BOLD COAST SEA & SKY FESTIVAL in Machias, there were plenty of colored eggs, water slides, kites in the air, planes flying in and helicopters on the ground. The event spanned two days and brought plenty of sights, sounds and good food to the area. A family-friendly festival is how Bill Burke, owner of Pat’s Pizza, envisioned it when he and others decided to do something in July that would provide things to do for everyone. The American Legion Auxiliary provided over 100 kite kits for children to build and fly and held the Easter in July egg hunt. Middle River Park once again was the site for plenty of children’s games, and new this year were two water slides just in time to provide some relief from the hot temperatures. The Machias Valley Airport participated for the third year in a row by holding an airport fly-in and a touch a truck display. Over a dozen planes flew in and landed, including a helicopter courtesy of Maine Forest Service. (RJ Heller photo)
