“I WANDERED LONELY AS A CLOUD.” This cow moose might be contemplating Wordsworth’s poem as it snacks on some bushes on Little Dog Island off Eastport’s north end and watches an immature eagle fly by on April 3. Undoubtedly enticed by signs in Perry pointing to Moose Islandand the sound of the island’s mournful foghorn, the moose may have been disappointed when it found no other moose, reached lands-end and could go no farther without swimming across the Old Sow whirlpool to Deer Island.Following several days spent on the little island, wheremany local residents enjoyed watching her, the moose headed for greener pastures after the road was closed so thehappy wanderer would not be disturbed on her journey through the wild puckerbrush.
