NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY was observed on September 16 throughout the U.S. including with this display outside the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Eastport. Along with the 'table set for one' to remember both prisoners of war and those still missing in action, the display featured a photograph of John Huntley of Eastport. During the Vietnam War, Huntley was on an extraction mission in Laos as a door gunner on a helicopter that was hit with heavy enemy fire, crashed and burned on September 27, 1969. His remains have not been recovered. (Edward French photo)
