OVER 100 PEOPLE
OVER 100 PEOPLE made their way to Middle River Park in Machias to enjoy a piece of history reenacted on the hills and banks of the river. Members of the Revolutionary War Reenactors of Downeast Maine gathered for what they called a Rebels & Redcoats event, featuring villagers raising a liberty pole, only to be confronted by British military. A skirmish ensued, and the patriots, with Native American support, fought off the British. The event has been celebrated every year during the Margaretta Days festival, which was cancelled this year because of the pandemic. (Photos courtesy of Lori McBrine)
