Tribe, county disappointed by racino vote
Maine voters narrowly defeated the Passamaquoddy Tribe's proposal for a harness racing track with slot machines in Calais during the statewide election on November 6. The racino referendum question was turned down by a margin of 52% to 48%, or by about 12,000 votes, according to unofficial tallies.

Maine BEP denies LNG firm's request to refile application
A request by Downeast LNG to withdraw its application before the Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) for the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility at Mill Cove in Robbinston was denied October 25 by the board in a 5-3 vote.
