PLACING FLAGS to honor two British officers buried in Hillside Cemetery in Eastport is Richard Mealey, a Navy veteran and member of the United Veterans Honor Guard of Washington County. Lt. Thomas Raymond, Royal Navy, and Lt. Walter St. John, 102nd Regiment of Foot, both died during the British occupation of Eastport in the War of 1812.  Helping to decorate the graves of veterans before Memorial Day this year were students from Shead High School and the seventh and eighth graders from Eastport Elementary School.
