With a few e-mails and a lot of cooperation, a "Meet the Candidates Meeting" came together in the Great Hall of the Grand Manan Community School on April 25 without a hitch. Of the 23 candidates, all but one arrived on time and the last one showed up as soon as his boat got in.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) notified Quoddy Bay LNG in an April 25 letter that the commission is suspending the review of the Quoddy Bay LNG import project until further information is received from the company.

Two Grand Manan boats, the P'tit Walton owned by the Tobique band, and the Sea Watcher owned by Peter McLaughlin, burned on April 13 and 14. "The first boat, the P'tit Walton, appears suspicious and is under investigation," says Corporal Andy Cook of the Grand Manan RCMP.

The Eastport Port Authority is making plans for the possible export from the Estes Head terminal of wood pellets that would be manufactured locally.
