THE WOMEN

THE WOMEN’S MARCH in Eastport drew over 65 people on a chilly winter’s day. The sister march held in solidarity with marches around the world drew attention to a number of human rights issues. The Women’s March, held for the past three years, seeks to dismantle systems of oppression through nonviolent resistance and building inclusive structures guided by self-determination, dignity and respect. In Eastport, the walkers chanted “this is what democracy looks like” and other calls and responses from the high school to the fisherman statue, where they sang folk songs in a spirit of unity and then, at the WaCo Diner, listened to speakers.
