Sipayik health center cited for care violations

The Pleasant Point Health Center (PPHC) did not meet a number of federal and tribal health and safety requirements for quality of care during the period from 2014 through 2016, according to a report issued in July by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General.

Dana is tribe's first elected female chief

The first elected female Passamaquoddy chief will begin her four-year term on October 1. In the September 18 general election at Sipayik, Marla Dana received 205 votes, defeating by a 21-vote margin Colleen Dana-Cummings, who received 184.

Perry family of eight loses home to fire

Cody and Amanda Bulmer and their six children lost their home on Mahar Lane in Perry on the afternoon of Friday, September 7, when a fire that started in the garage quickly engulfed the attached house.

Right whale disentangled by Campobello team

The effort to save the endangered North Atlantic right whale, with a population believed to be fewer than 450, was bolstered this week by the work of the Campobello Whale Rescue Team, which disentangled fishing gear from one of the whales, a 10-year-old male, off Grand Manan.
